Yoga for
Senior Citizens

Gentle, safe, and completely personalised practice for seniors in Hyderabad — improving balance, joint mobility, sleep, and energy levels at every age.

How Yoga Helps

The Body That Moves Well, Ages Well

The most common fear among seniors starting yoga is “I’m too stiff” or “I might hurt myself.” Neither is a barrier. Yoga at Setu begins where your body is today — not where a textbook says it should be. Every posture can be modified. Every pace can be slowed. Every session is a conversation between teacher and student.

For seniors, yoga provides something no other practice does as effectively: the combination of balance training, joint mobility, nervous system regulation, and mental clarity in a single, low-impact session. Fall prevention, reduced joint pain, better sleep, and improved mood are not side effects — they are the direct outcomes of consistent practice.

Our Yogacharya has 32 years of experience working with students of all ages and conditions. He understands what the ageing body needs — and equally, what it doesn’t. Seniors in Hyderabad who practise here find that yoga becomes the one hour of their day that belongs entirely to them.

Healing begins with consistent yoga practice and mindful living. Consistent yoga practice supports natural healing and overall well-being.

Inform your teacher about any health conditions, surgeries, or medications before your first session. Practice is always adapted to your current state.

What Our Members Say

Real Results from Real Practice

"I started at 68 with severe knee pain and the belief that yoga was for flexible young people. Within two months, I was climbing stairs without holding the railing. I wish I had come earlier."

"My sleep was terrible for years. After six weeks of Yoga Nidra sessions I was sleeping through the night for the first time in a decade. The morning sessions are the best part of my day."

Common Questions

Frequently Asked

Is yoga safe for seniors above 60?
Yes. Yoga is one of the safest forms of exercise for seniors, especially when guided by a certified teacher who adapts the practice to your body. At Setu Yoga Studio, every senior’s session is personalised to their mobility, health conditions, and energy levels.
I have joint pain and knee problems. Can I still do yoga?
Yes. In fact, yoga is one of the most effective ways to manage joint pain. We work with what your body can do today — not what a textbook says it should do. Props, support, and gentle modifications ensure you practise without pain.
Will yoga help with my balance and fear of falling?
Significantly. Balance and proprioception (body awareness) improve measurably with consistent yoga practice. Standing postures, core strengthening, and mindful movement reduce fall risk — one of the most important benefits for older adults.
How is senior yoga different from regular yoga?
Pace, intensity, and modifications. Senior yoga moves more slowly, includes longer holds, uses props and support where needed, and avoids postures that place strain on joints or require excessive flexibility. The teacher knows what to avoid and what to emphasise.
Can yoga help with my sleep and energy levels?
Yes. Yoga Nidra (yogic sleep) is particularly effective for improving sleep quality in older adults. Regular practice also significantly improves energy, reduces fatigue, and lifts mood — often within the first few weeks.
